Jumping late on the bandwagon,I finally took Safari on a test drive. Now we all know Apple had claimed that Safari is probably the fastest browser in the world..it still remains to be seen whether it will outperform Opera on the windows platform.Apple's new strategy might be a winning decision after all as more people are begining to get familiar with the Mac fever. Most loyal Mac users will remain loyal as it is but the latest trend with the introduction of bootcamp will most certainly reach to bigger audiences.
Anyway I tried the browser and as much as would love to see Safari on my desktop, I guess I'll just pass on this one or at least this release. It doesn't seems to outperform Opera and in fact I have problems surfing some of my favourite sites. I don't see why then we should jump out of the safe boat and start hugging a new and strange alien in the world of windows.Even with the speed that Opera has got to give , I am still gonna put my preference to Firefox and sacrifice speed for stability and security. However the battle for browsers are not over yet as the introduction of Safari in a platform where Internet Explorer hold the reign so dearly for the past who knows how many years might just give IE a new and young challenger in the ring.Oh yes..the force is strong in this one.

I was reading my favourite daily TechCrunch when I stumbled on coRank which basically delivers a hosted solution if you want to start a news social network system similar to Digg .I had tried using Pligg and get around the design for some client request who wants a Digg clone for their site but now I think I will be losing business.coRank not only does it better for those who are code and design illiterate it by delivering a free from worries solution but in my opinion could be an effective platform to start your own information/news sharing at your workplace i.e a medium to share corporate information. This is the fastest and yet more effective option then Yahoo!Groups .And what's more it's a free service. Some would even pay for this type of service. While its not build to compute complex logic like Digg does, I'm sure it may yet open the floodgates for even Social Community sites like Friendster and even better Facebook to offer such services for their users.

Well I know Compete.com and its services is yesterday's news but I just got it's toolbar installed as an addon for my firefox to give it a test drive about an hour ago.Why now? Actually its because they just announced that its releasing its API for public use and whenever somebody does that, they'll be in my good books.
I'm sure most of you know the founder of Compete ,Bill Gross probably from the glory days of Goto.com and Overture which open the floodgates for paid search service, noticeably adwords/adsense by Google.Compete provides analytics about its users click and therefore web users activity by each users who installed its toolbar which since an hour ago includes me.It introduces click sharing and as a result, its users benefits from knowing where other users had been and which site is safe for their surfing purposes,Some of the services that Compete also has in store for its user is Snapshot which provide site information including traffic history,Compete Blog that highlights user's surfing preference and also interesting sites that you may stumble anytime during your routine daily surfing.MyCompete provide a personalized homepage to satisfy even the community-holics. Check it and try it out .
